HPV Vaccine for Girls?

Once again the drug companies using their herd mentality want to vaccinate young girls for HPV. They claim this will prevent thousands of girls from getting cervical cancer.

What they don't tell you is that the risk of a girl to get cervical cancer is related to the age at which she begins sexual activity and the number of partners she has.

According to a government website, cancer.gov, "in 2006, an estimated 10,000 women in the United States will be diagnosed with this type of cancer and nearly 4,000 will die from it." The site also explains that most of the abnormal cell changes caused by the HPV go away on their own. Of course pap smears can also detect cervical cell changes and those abnormal cells can also be removed.

Vaccinating millions of young girls who are not at risk with a vaccine that no one knows the long term effects of is insanity. Think long and hard before allowing your daughter to get vaccinated. Instead, when appropriate, teach her the risk behaviors associated with contracting HPV.
